Cartagenia and OGT Collaborate in Automated Genome Assay Data Transfer

Aiding confident clinical diagnosis

Leuven – June 11, 2010 — Cartagenia today announced that Bench, its database platform and software solution for constitutional cytogenetics, now seamlessly integrates with Oxford Gene Technology’s (OGT) CytoSure™ Interpret Software, enabling automated exchange of array comparative genomic hybridisation (aCGH) results. This integration further accelerates the work flow of clinical geneticists in routine genetic diagnosis and advances the accurate determination of a patient’s diagnosis. Further details of this new functionality will be presented in two workshops at the European Society of Human Genetics in Gothenburg from 12 - 15 June. On 12th June, OGT will present “From disease to cytogenetics research – An integrated CNV analysis platform from Oxford Gene Technology” at 12.00 in room H1. Following on from this, at 14.00 in room R4, Cartagenia will present “Routine clinical interpretation of copy number variation”.

The Cartagenia Bench database and CytoSure Interpret Software together provide a complimentary offer to technicians, medical geneticists and genetic counsellors involved in routine genetic diagnostic practice. An automated data transfer from CytoSure Interpret Software to the Bench platform ensures a smooth workflow supporting all aspects of the interpretation of Copy Number Variations (CNVs) in a clinical context. With Bench, CNV results obtained from OGT assays can easily be managed within a comprehensive database, enabling data to be shared within, and across, various facilities quickly and securely. Furthermore, users can effortlessly carry out patient comparisons, as well as generate suggested candidate genes that are likely to be responsible for an altered patient phenotype. This, in combination with advanced capture and annotation of patient clinical details and specifically designed custom reporting for clinicians, results in accurate patient diagnosis and equips the lab with end-to-end workflow support in routine diagnostics.

Cartagenia will be exhibiting at ESHG 2010 on booth B-632.

OGT will be exhibiting at ESHG 2010 on booth B-550.
